It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the contest."

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was out Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.
