Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
