Chopper Twirls Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Frequented Southern California Coast
An aircraft hovering over a well-attended California beach suddenly started spinning wildly, ultimately losing altitude and plunging into a row of palm groves as beachgoers watched.
Recordings shared on social media capture the chopper beginning to twirl above Huntington Beach then descending in the direction of the edge of the beach, where it becomes wedged between palms and a steps adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Update
Local firefighters reported five individuals were transported to a medical facility involving two who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” subsequent to the accident on Saturday.
Three persons on the street were hurt. Specifics on their condition were not immediately available.
